Read the ideas behind public choices.

Grand Policy Briefing

Write for us

We welcome pitches that help general readers understand a public policy question, its language or its decision-making process. A strong contribution makes one clear point, offers useful context and leaves room for complexity without requiring specialist credentials.

What to pitch

Propose an explainer, comparison, history or close reading of a policy term, proposal or process. Evergreen subjects are especially useful when the article can teach readers how to notice a distinction or ask a more precise question without relying on fast-changing figures or local rules.

What makes a good pitch

Send a working title, a short account of the central idea, the reader it serves and the material or reasoning the piece would examine. Explain what your approach adds beyond a general overview. Keep the scope focused enough for one article and flag uncertainty or limits that should remain visible.

How to send it

Submit proposals through the Contact page and select the editorial question option. Please include your pitch in the message; a proposal is not a commission, and publication details are agreed only after discussion.

Our point of view

Good policy reading starts with better questions

A proposal is not the same as a decision, and a stated aim is not the whole story. We slow down the language and look at the choices that deserve attention.
